Third Frontier Helps Companies Grow

Posted byChris Thompson - 04.19.2010

While it may not always be all that clear what the Third Frontier is all about, this story and video by Bobby Warren of the Wooster Daily Record makes pretty simple. The state program is all about innovation and jobs.

Bobby's story is about ABS Materials, a Wooster-based company that is using an innovation developed by a researcher at the College of Wooster to clean up toxic chemicals. ABS Materials has received financial and other support from JumpStart, the regional entrepreneurial assistance organization. JumpStart is among the direct beneficiaries of the Third Frontier program. And ABS Materials is one of hundreds of indirect beneficiaries. (Watch JumpStart's video about ABS Materials.)

The global economy is driven by innovation. Those regions that can foster more innovation, commercialize the technology and grow companies like ABS Materials are the regions that will generate jobs into the future. Northeast Ohio has a deep heritage of innovation, and the Third Frontier is helping to translate the next generation of innovation into jobs.

It's that simple. Innovation generates jobs. Third Frontier fosters more innovation. Support the Third Frontier, vote yes on Issue 1 on May 4.
