Developing Young Construction Talent

Posted byChris Thompson - 08.17.2010

Whether its the expansion of manufacturing plants in Stark County or the building of a convention center in Cleveland, there's a lot of construction activity going on in Northeast Ohio. And a group of collaborators are striving to make sure that more young adults are aware of the opportunities in the construction industry.

On Aug. 17 nine students, some of them recent high school graduates, graduated from the Construction Management Academy Program, which is a collaboration among the Contractors Assistance Association, Construction Employers Associatoin and Hard Hatted Women,. The Cleveland Metropolitan Schoold District, Cuyahoga Community College and Cleveland State University also participate in the program. All of the students will receive credit hours from CSU for their participation. The students interned at local construction and architectural firms and took classes in marketing, accounting and other business related subjects.
