Innovation, Collaboration Lead to Business Growth

Posted byChris Thompson - 12.29.2010

Innovation and collaboration can lead to exciting business growth opportunities as demonstrated recently by Kent Displays, a growing maker of liquid crystal display products, which won a highly competitive $3 million federal grant.

The company is commercializing technology generated by Kent State University and benefits strongly from collaborations with the University of Akron. It is selling its products in Asia, and they are made right here in Northeast Ohio.

The grant will help Kent Displays develop the next generation of flexible liquid crystal displays. Only nine companies nationally won this kind of grant and more than 100 applied. Truly a sign of what is possible when collaboration and innovation converge in Northeast Ohio.
