Governments Collaborating on Health Care, Fuel

Posted byChris Thompson - 12.06.2010

Partners in Advance Northeast Ohio, such as the Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber of Commerce, have been working hard to encourage more government collaborations and all of that effort is paying off.

Earlier this year Trumbull County governments announced their plans to collaborate together to save on fuel costs. And now, the City of Youngstown (in Mahoning County) wants to join that collaboration, according to this story by Ron Selak Jr. of the Warren Tribune.

Similarly, three Cuyahoga County communities are collaborating with the county to save money on providing health insurance to employees. The three communities expect to save more than $200,000 in the first year by offering health insurance through a county program. Hopefully more communities will follow the lead of those first three (and of Youngstown) and join in the collaboration.
