Launch 100 Targets Minority Entrepreneurs
Posted by - 03.26.2010
Increasing entreprenuerial activity in The Plus region is one of the objectives of the partners in Advance Northeast Ohio and this month JumpStart Inclusion Advisors and the State of Ohio announced a new strategy to help achieve that objective specifically targeted at minority and urban entrepreneurs.
Launch 100 is a new statewide initiative that will assist high-potential minority and urban businesses as they look to grow. JumpStart will pilot the project in Northeast Ohio before it expands to the rest of the state.
Launch 100 will seek out minority-owned and inner-city startups that show high-growth potential. Companies selected for the new program must demonstrate they have the ability to generate $15 million in annual sales and create more than 50 jobs in the next three to five years. Additionally, companies must display that they hold a competitive edge on a new product, process, or an exclusive license on an idea that cannot be duplicated.
JumpStart is collaboarting with the Ohio Department of Development Minority Business Enterprise Division on the new program.
