Two Counties Launch Transportation Collaboration

The permanent fiscal crisis facing our local governments is prompting more government collaboration. The Warren Tribune recently detailed the latest effort to share services among Trumbull and Ashtabula counties. The counties will be working together to maxmize services to elderly and other residents that need non-emergency transportation services.
Trumbull County Commissioner Frank Fuda sums up the opportunity this way, "We can work together to reduce the cost of rides. Instead of one person taking one bus trip to a place, we can hook up four or five." While the pilot project will start small, the counties hope to share a call center in the future.
If we are to Advance Northeast Ohio, more of our local governments will need to follow the lead of Trumbull and Ashtabula counties. If you are aware of a government collaboration that you think can spread to other parts of Northeast Ohio, please highlight it by adding a comment to this post.
