Collaboration in Lorain County Looks to the Rails for Future Jobs

Posted byChris Thompson - 09.22.2010

Innovative collaborations are needed to prepare our region's residents for the jobs of the future and Rick Jackson of WCPN recently highlighted an interesting effort involving a company, Lorain County Community College and the State of Ohio.

The goal of this latest collaboration is to prepare residents to work on the railroad -- the next generation of railroad, that is. Building a truly high-speed rail system will take advanced knowledge and training; and that means career opportunities. Elyria-based Amicac is a company that systems for the world's fastest railroads and it is working with the state and the college to create a course teaching unemployed steelworkers needed skills for building high-speed rail lines.

Check our Rick Jackson's report.
