New and Old Industries Growing

Signs continue to build that the efforts of Advance Northeast Ohio partners to build high-growth industries in the region are paying dividends.
We've seen major expansion of so-called "old industries" like steel in the Mahoning Valley and new auto parts makers moving into Akron. And new companies that are partnering with our universities and colleges, such as the University of Akron, Oberlin College and College of Wooster, are attracting millions in support from the state and adding employees as they help expand our advanced materials industry and our advanced energy industry.
Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic this month highlighted his community's efforts to continue to build on the region's bioscience strength.
And MAGNET and Wire-Net announced plans to help the region's manufacturers better transition into some of these growing industries.
Add it all up and it looks like our industries in the Plus are building a more vibrant future for our region.
