Anti-Poaching Agreement Pays Dividends

One of the biggest challenges to acting like a region in Northeast Ohio is we aren't organized like a region. Northeast Ohio is made up of hundreds of communities that often find themselves competing with each other for tax revenue rather than working together. Summit County Executive Russ Pry has led the effort to help communities in that county act more regionally by advocating an anti-poaching agreement that compensates communities when they suffer a loss in that competition.
With the anti-poaching agreement in place, Hudson won't lose out completely when Lianda Corp., a plastic and polymer importer, exits Hudson for Twinsburg. Hudson will receive a portion of the income tax paid by the company to Twinsburg for the next three years. This Ohio.com article offers more detail.
Now 20 communities in Summit County are part of the anti-poaching pact. Of course this pact only applies within Summit County. Do you think Northeast Ohio counties should create a similar pact to minimize the consequences when companies move across country lines but stay in Northeast Ohio?
