New Regional Dispatch Center Being Discussed

Posted by Advance Northeast Ohio - 09.20.2011

The start of what will hopefully turn into a regional dispatch center is underway, with Twinsburg leading the charge by preparing to sign a one-year lease with the Cleveland Clinic to reserve space in the basement of their Twinsburg Family Health and Surgery Center.

Hudson, Boston Heights, Macedonia and Nortfield Village have also expressed interest in joining Twinsburg in a regional dispatch center, but talks about this potential collaboration won't likely happen until after November's local elections, according to the Twinsburg Bulletin.

"I think this is a good move to work with other communities and pool resources to save money," said Twinsburg Council President Gary Sorace. "I think some communities worry about giving up control of their dispatch, but they need to understand that this will be a joint venture, not just Twinsburg running the dispatch center."

Learning to share dispatch services will be one of the topics covered by next month's EfficientGovNetwork Regional Collaboration Conference being organized by some of Northeast Ohio's most collaborative public officials. Encourage your communities officials to attend the conference.
