Advance Northeast Ohio Partners Receive Grants to Benefit Region

Posted by Advance Northeast Ohio - 09.27.2011

Several Advance Northeast Ohio partners are recipients of two federal grant awards designed to promote job growth and regional economic development.

The first went to Cleveland State University. They are one of 21 universities across the country to receive an award from the U.S. Commerce Department's Economic Development Administration through its University Center Program to advance regional development strategies. CSU will get $665,000 to assist local government and nonprofit organizations in planning and implementing regional economic development strategies.

The second award goes to MAGNET, JumpStart, Lorain County Community College and NorTech. Together they are the recipients of a $2 million grant, as part of the Jobs and Innovation Accelerator Challenge, to support their "Speed-to-Market Accelerator." The accelerator will connect products ready for commercialization with manufacturers and a trained work force, according to Crain's Cleveland Business.
