JumpStart Generates $90 Million Impact in 2009

Despite hard economic times, JumpStart generated $90 million in economic impact in 2009. As a venture development organization that helps early-stage companies in Northeast Ohio, JumpStart was able to help companies grow and create jobs even in the face of the current recession.

In a recent study done by Cleveland State University’s Center of Economic Development it was found that JumpStart increased its economic impact by 20% in 2009 when compared to 2008. The study also credits JumpStart with:

• Helping to generate $12.1 million in taxes in 2009.
• Helping to create or retain 664 jobs since JumpStart's founding in 2004. This is 162 more jobs than the group's 2008 impact.
• Producing $39.8 million in household income in 2009.

With funding from programs such as the Ohio Third Frontier, other public sources and the federal government, JumpStart helped 47 companies throughout The Plus region.
