In an effort to showcase the many assets that make Northeast Ohio a great place to do business, Team NEO recently hosted a Familiarization Tour (FAM Tour), aimed at the advanced energy sector. The three-day tour began August 5th and engaged six of the nation’s top site selectors who are actively involved in advanced energy projects. By highlighting Northeast Ohio’s many advantages in the advanced energy sector, the ultimate goal of the FAM Tour is to bring companies and jobs to The Plus region.
As site selectors work with companies and individuals looking to locate or relocate their businesses, the FAM Tour provides an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of Northeast Ohio’s business climate. Focused on advanced energy, this particular FAM Tour gave site selectors the chance to learn about the advanced energy field from many of the industry’s key individuals, institutions and organizations.
The Tour kicked-off at the NASA Glenn Research Center and featured stops at the Timken Technical Center and Rolls-Royce Fuel Cell Systems. Guests on the FAM Tour also made stops at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Dinner and were invited to watch some of golf’s best at the Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club.
While touring the region, site selectors engaged in an array of presentations, discussions, and networking events, each focused on various aspects of Northeast Ohio's advanced energy sector. As Northeast Ohio boasts tremendous strength in the advanced energy field, the FAM Tour featured companies, organizations and educational institutions from throughout the region. These included: The Timken Company, Sherwin-Williams, GreenField Solar, GrafTech International, Wellman Products, Rolls-Royce Fuel Cell Systems, FirstEnergy, Lorain County Community College, Stark State College, Cuyahoga Community College, Lakeland Community College, NASA Glenn Research Center, Great Lakes Wind Network, Great Lakes Energy Institute, Ohio Fuel Cell Coalition, NorTech, NorTech Energy Enterprise, Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation, and Team NEO.
