The Plus: Leveraging the Medical Capital in Israel

Posted by ThePlus - 08.24.2010

Through the efforts of individuals, organizations, institutions and businesses, Northeast Ohio has developed a unique business relationship with Israel, which is helping grow The Plus region’s economy. This point was further highlighted recently when a delegation from Northeast Ohio attended Biomed Israel 2010, a life sciences conference and exhibition that drew more than 4,000 attendees. The biomedical conference and exhibition highlighted Northeast Ohio’s strengths in the biomedical field and revealed how significant The Plus region’s relationship with Israel has become.

At Biomed Israel 2010, attendees had the opportunity to observe medical equipment made in Akron at Hadassah Hospital; visit a surgical simulation company, which manufactures its products in Eastlake; and spend time with a local CEO who is developing a special device for an Akron-based orthopedist. The conference was a perfect illustration of all the innovations taking place in the Medical Capital.

As Northeast Ohio looks to expand its reach across the globe, our unique relationship with Israel is paying dividends. Surpassed by only Boston and the Silicon Valley, Israel is the third most important location for investment capital in the world. Ohio and The Plus region continue to leverage their position in Israel as they represent Israel’s “13th most important trading partner in the U.S.”

Thanks to the many great higher education institutions, individuals, organizations and businesses in The Plus, Northeast Ohio’s relationship with Israel continues to thrive. This relationship is further developed by Northeast Ohio’s strengths in the biomedical sector.
