In the world of green buildings and architecture, The Lewis Center at Oberlin College is tops. A recent article on Forbes.com highlighted this fact as The Plus region’s own Oberlin College took the spotlight.

The Forbes article focused on a survey conducted for Architect magazine, which asked 150 green experts and architects “what they thought were the five most important green buildings constructed since 1980.” After the results were tallied, The Plus region’s own Adam Joseph Lewis Center for Environmental Studies in Oberlin came out as the top vote-getter.

As the article explains, The Lewis Center, built in 2001, is a leading example of a well-designed green building. “The zero-energy building has classroom and office space, an auditorium, an environmental studies library and a Living Machine wastewater purification system. The building is equipped with solar panels, energy-efficient lighting, a geothermal heating and cooling system, furniture with biodegradable upholstery and more.”
