Youngstown Business Incubator Putting The Plus on Display
Posted by ThePlus - 08.18.2010
The Plus region’s Youngstown Business Incubator (YBI) continues to make national headlines thanks to its array of innovative startup companies. After a feature story in Inc. Magazine and a feature broadcast by BBC, Bloomberg BusinessWeek has jumped on the YBI bandwagon as well. In a recent Bloomberg BusinessWeek article, “Betting on Incubators to Create Jobs,” the Youngstown Business Incubator is once again prominently featured along with one of its portfolio companies, BizVeo.
As the article focuses on business incubators’ strengths in spurring job creation, it is no surprise that BusinessWeek highlights the work of the Youngstown Business Incubator. Given the Incubator’s successful track record with companies such as Turning Technologies and now BizVeo, the Youngstown Business Incubator is helping put some of The Plus region’s most innovative ideas and thinkers on display.
Thanks to incubators like YBI and economic development organizations, startup companies in The Plus are able to bring their ideas to life. BizVeo, with its unique video communication tool that links doctors and patients, is quickly gaining traction. In fact, as highlighted in the article, “Chief Executive Tony DeAscentis says the business should be profitable by mid-2012, about four years sooner than he had expected.”
Meanwhile, Turning Technologies is experiencing wide -spread success with its interactive software “…that conducts real-time polling of audiences while they're watching a presentation.” The $40 million software maker now employs 200 people and has plans to open an office in Europe.
With so many exciting things taking place at the Youngstown Business Incubator, we can expect to see more coverage in the national media. You can read the latest article from BusinessWeek by clicking here.
