Medical Capital as a Prime Venue for Medical Conferences
Posted by ThePlus - 07.13.2010
Northeast is home to an array of hospitals, universities, biomedical companies and organizations that make it a prime destination for medical and health care related events and meetings. Drawing upon the region’s immense resources and access to world-class institutions, Northeast Ohio’s emergence as the Medical Capital has made it the location for many national medical and health care conferences.
Recently, the Hydrocephalus Association selected Cleveland for its biennial conference. Chosen over Philadelphia and Boston, Cleveland was selected because of its many amenities; one of which being the Cleveland Clinic, which specializes in hydrocephalus. The conference was a great success as attendees watched on giant screens as physicians performed surgeries at the Clinic. After the surgeries, the physicians came over to the conference to answer questions in person.
Northeast Ohio’s reputation as a destination for medical and health care conferences is sure to increase when the Cleveland Medical Mart and Convention Center breaks ground this fall. Set to open in 2013, the facility already has letters of intent (LOIs) for 24 Medical Mart showroom tenants and 12 conventions/conferences. The facility will include 520,000 square feet of exhibit, permanent showroom and meeting space. Additionally, the Medical Mart will come complete with a conference center to accommodate seminars, keynote sessions, and conferences of all sizes. Ultimately, the Medical Mart will help solidify The Plus region as “the” place to hold medical and health care related events and meetings.
