Akron based InSeT Systems Uses its High-Tech Innovation to Improve Mining Industry

Posted byThePlus - 03.29.2010

Akron’s InSeT Systems, like so many other companies in The Plus, is at the forefront of high-tech innovation. InSeT is developing its Inertial Sensor Tracking System, which will be used to track underground locations that GPS can’t reach. InSeT’s technology is a great breakthrough for the mining industry, which is looking to better its safety standards.

InSeT’s Inertial Sensor Tracking System will be used to track location data underground and even underwater and outer space. The Inertial Sensor Tracking System is the first of its kind on the market. To bring its ideas to life, the Akron-based company received a $400,000 loan from JumpStart and later received a $330,000 grant from the Ohio Coal Development Office as well as loans from the state. While InSeT is still perfecting their final product, they plan to add 50 jobs by the end of 2012. As an innovative leader in Northeast Ohio, InSeT’s hard work was rewarded this year with a 2010 NorTech Innovation Award.
