Northeast Ohio continues to develop its reputation as a biomedical hub as startup companies like Securus Medical Group locate to Northeast. The cardiovascular device company recently moved from Boston to Cleveland, aided by investments from JumpStart and RiverVest Venture Partners.

JumpStart, the Northeast Ohio-based nonprofit that “invests in and assists high growth, early stage companies,” announced that it would co-invest $750,000 in Securus Medical Group. RiverVest Venture Partners will partner with JumpStart in this deal.

Moving from Boston to Cleveland, Securus Medical Group is taking advantage of the region’s many healthcare-related strengths. In a press release distributed by JumpStart, Securus’ CEO, Donna Richardson, stated: “With several world-class research hospitals and universities, Cleveland’s healthcare innovation is a definite strength in the region.” Richardson went out to say that because of these many strengths, “…startups in this sector have access to investment and technical support you can’t find in other cities.”
