On Our Way towards Economic Vibrancy
Posted by ThePlus - 11.09.2011
Throughout the U.S., states, regions and cities are fervently working to find ways to grow their economies and create jobs. This is especially true in Northeast Ohio as its vast economic development system tirelessly works to grow the region’s economy. While the phrase “economic development system” encompasses a wide array of organizations, institutions and individuals, one organization in particular was recently recognized for its work. NorTech, a nonprofit focused on developing the region’s technology industries, was named a recipient of the State Science and Technology Institute’s (SSTI) 2011 Excellence in Technology-Based Economic Development (TBED) Awards.
While lengthy in its title, the prestigious awards program was created to honor best in class economic development models. NorTech, through its “cluster development model,” is accelerating the growth of Northeast Ohio’s technology industries and in turn creating high-paying jobs.
As Northeast Ohio continues to develop its economy, awards like these demonstrate and reaffirm that our region is moving towards economic vibrancy.
