Back in the U.S.A.

Rebecca Bagley, President and CEO of NorTech, a regional economic development organization, recently wrote a blog on Forbes.com discussing a new trend in America – something the experts are calling onshoring,” or “insourcing.” While we have often heard about America losing jobs to overseas operations, Bagley brings to light a new phenomenon where companies are progressively turning their interests back to the good ‘ole USA.
Bagley writes:
From multi-national corporations as large as General Electric, NCR and Caterpillar, to small and mid-size companies in my own backyard such as Delta Systems, Inc. and Suarez Corporation, there is a renewed interest in having products “made in America.”
Delta Systems, Inc., based in Streetsboro, Ohio designs and manufactures switches, electronics, and control systems, as well as providing full service electronics manufacturing and other contract manufacturing services. Delta has recently experienced an increase for its contract manufacturing services from companies that previously had their products manufactured overseas.
“Delta’s highly efficient manufacturing processes are very competitive with offshore manufacturers. As a result, Delta has attracted new business from small companies to large, multi-national corporations that now want their products manufactured in the US. Delta is continuing to add jobs to keep up with customer demand, which is a positive trend for our regional and national economy,” said Elizabeth Barry, President of Delta Systems, Inc.
As manufacturing continues to ramp up throughout the country, it is likely we will see more and more examples of companies bringing their business back to America. What is more, Northeast Ohio is sure to benefit from this ongoing trend.
