Manufacturing Strength Continues

Last month I highlighted Cleveland's status as the leader in manufacturing job growth and the good news continues to build. From April through July, Cleveland was #1 in manufacturing job growth among the nation's 40 largest MSAs, according to the Pittsburgh-based blogger Harold D. Miller.
Miller raises some concerns that Pittsburgh is falling too far behind Cleveland and other peer markets when it comes to job growth. Pittsburgh has been losing jobs of late while Greater Cleveland has added 24,000 private sector jobs over the last three months. Greater Cleveland's progress is indeed encouraging, but no one is ready declare the Great Recession as over and we all recognize that we still have a long way to go before our economy is where we want it to be.
One of the reasons the region is making progress is the work of organizations like MAGNET, which helps manufacturers stay competitive and grow. Check out MAGNET's new report on its econmic impact over the last five years here.
