Our Growing Tech Sector

Northeast Ohio has a long heritage of innovation and that translates into a growing high-technology sector. That growth is captured in a new report issued by NorTech.
Here are a few of the highlights:
- Employment in the tech sector grew 1.8% from 2007 to 2008.
- Three out of four jobs in the tech sector don't require a technical degree -- so people like me can work in the tech sector.
- People in the tech sector, on average, earn 48% more than those who work in non-tech sectors.
- Northeast Ohio colleges and universities increased their research and development spending by 50% from 2000 to 2008; that increase was more than double than the national increase.
