Advanced Energy Roadmaps to Help Grow The Plus’ Economy

In the world of advanced energy, Northeast Ohio is poised to play a crucial role. As the industry becomes more competitive, key players throughout The Plus region are seeking ways to make Northeast Ohio standout to the global competition. Led by the efforts of NorTech, Northeast Ohio’s growing advanced energy sector will make an even larger economic impact with the implementation of four strategic roadmaps designed to better align our region’s advanced energy assets.

Aimed to accelerate economic growth and job creation in The Plus region’s advanced energy industry, the roadmaps will be developed for the Energy Storage, Transportation Electrification, Smart Grid and Biomass/Waste-to-Energy sectors. These roadmaps, or advanced energy strategies, will lay out a plan to bring together the many disparate entities that fall under the advanced energy umbrella. The roadmaps will encompass all aspects of the advanced energy sectors from utilities, to manufacturers, to researchers. By doing this, NorTech hopes to form advanced energy clusters, where innovative technologies and talent thrive within a close proximity.

The development of the four roadmaps was made possible thanks to a grant given to NorTech by the Economic Development Administration’s (EDA) Economic Adjustment Assistance Program. In order to develop the roadmaps, NorTech will facilitate regional stakeholders through a process to conceive of and articulate a clear vision and a game plan for each of the four sectors based on the region’s assets, the global market drivers and the competitive landscape. Ultimately, the roadmaps will serve as a valuable tool to set priorities and focus regional resources to grow the region’s advanced energy economy.
